Since 1982 engine visionary Paolo Severi has been working on 125cc shifter kart engines. Working for several different motor manufacturers for many years he developed his skills to the point where he had become a World Championship winning engine tuner and designer. This would leave only one thing for him to conquer and that would to be to do it on his own. So in 1997 he setup his factory in the legendary city of Maranello, Italy next door to the mythical Ferrari factory. Maranello has been famous for producing some of the best engines in the world and SGM is no exception. In their first year of competition they managed to finish 4th in the European FC championships with World Champion driver Massimiliano Orsini. After that SGM would enjoy much more success both on the track and in the factory where they continued to produce some of the most highly refined, reliable and competitive 125cc shifter engines. The next step for SGM is to continue their success in North America, because for SGM there is only one thing that matters and that is winning shifter kart races.
