Kyle Stevens 2009 Year in Review:

March, 2009 Kyle receives the news that his 2008 Worlds CRG / DD2 Kart has arrived from Italy. The chassis was raced by 2007 World Champion Pier-Luc Ouellette from Montreal, Canada. Pier-Luc finished 2nd in this chassis at the 2008 Rotax World Grand Finals in the DD2 class.

April, 2009 Kyle sets his sights on running his 2008 #48 CRG / Rotax DD2 in the Stratotech Park Raceway Wednesday Night Series. The series is based on a best 12 out of 16 race total point system.

April, 2009 Kyle officially joins Karting Racing Team - PSL Karting.com from Montreal, Quebec as a Western Team pilot / driver.

April, 2009 Kyle officially joins the Laughy Racing Team as driver of the #38 Legends Car for the 2009 Season with team mate and car owner #17 Ira Laughy from Calgary, Alberta. Kyle’s dad, Mark, joins Ira’s ace crew chief Carolynne Laughy to learn the ropes on Legend Car preparation and race day set up. 

April, 2009 Kyle announces he will run the full Legends Series as a Semi-Pro for 2009 which includes the Chase for the MAC’S Cup and the Edmonton International Raceway (EIR) Northern Points Championship.

 The Chase for the Macs Cup Series includes 6 Races at EIR in Wetaskiwin, 2 Races in Saskatoon, 2 in Medicine Hat and 1 in Kalispell Montana. The series is based on a best 9 out of 11 race total point system.

The EIR Northern Points Championship Series includes 6 Races at Edmonton International Raceway in Wetaskiwin, Alberta. The series is based on a best 5 out of 6 race total point system.

May, 2009 Kyle forms the PSL Karting.com / Stratotech Park Racing team to compete in the Rotax MAX Challenge / Western Canadian Championship Series with DD2 drivers Tim Gnida and Ruwan “Red Dawg” Liyanage from Stratotech Park as team mates.

May, 2009 Kyle, his dad Mark and with help from Owen Gilbert (the dad to the #32 Legend Car of Adam Gilbert) announce a deal to bring Legend Cars of Alberta to Stratotech Park Raceway for the first road course race in 6 years.

July, 2009 Kyle finishes in First Place in the Semi-Pro division at the Inaugural Road Course race at Stratotech Park Raceway and Third Place over all. Team owner #17 Ira Laughy was First over all in the Masters division and Second Place over all in the event. Aaron Friend of Calgary was first in Pro division and First Place over all. The event was a great success and the possibilities that this venue will be part of the 2010 Series Points Chase.

 

July, 2009 Kyle assists Allen Berg (former Canadian F1 driver) and drives one of the Allen Berg School’s open wheel racing chassis on the Edmonton Indy Racing circuit at the City Centre Airport road course.

August, 2009 Kyle clinches First Place in the DD2 / Rotax MAX Challenge - Western Canadian Championship Series in Calgary, Alberta. He is awarded a position as Team Driver for Canada to represent and attend the 2009 Rotax MAX Challenge World Grand Finals in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt for the week of December 5 to 12, 2009.

September, 2009 Kyle wins First Place over all in the Stratotech Park Wednesday Night Series with a perfect score of 12 wins out of 16 races result.

Sept. 2009, Kyle wins First Place in the EIR Northern Points Championship with a perfect score of 5 wins out of 6 races result.

September, 2009 Kyle finishes 2nd to Adam Gilbert in the #32 Legends Car by 11 points in the Chase for the MAC’S Cup Series rounding out a very busy racing season.

October, 2009 Kyle is awarded 3 trophies at the Legend Cars of Alberta banquet for Most Improved Semi-Pro Driver, Semi-Pro Rookie of the Year Honors and the First Place in the EIR Northern Point Series.

October, 2009 Kyle accepts the Sr. Rotax DD2 First Place trophy at the Stratotech Park year end banquet.

October, 2009 Kyle is preparing for the 2009 Rotax MAX Challenge - World Grand Finals.

October, 2009 Kyle meets and has his picture taken in his PSL Karting.com Kart Racing suit with the Prime Minister of Canada, The Right Honourable Stephen Harper at DynEco / AUTOPRO during a round table business meeting held at the Edmonton area Automotive and Fleet Service facility.
